Paillaco

Paillaco is a commune of Valdivia and it’s located in southern Chile.
It’s a special place for me because my partner lives there, so every time he has to travel to Santiago so we can spend some time together, but he has told me a lot about his city. Besides, I’ve been told so many times that Valdivia is the most beautiful city of Chile that I’m pretty much eager to visit it anytime soon. I’ve never been there before because it’s very far from here; it would take me about 10 hours to get there by bus, so I can’t go just for the day, I’d have to stay a couple of days to make the trip count.
Furthermore, Paillaco has this amazingly old architecture with houses a hundred years old that still remain intact thanks to Paillaco's Patrimonial project (http://paillacopatrimonial.blogspot.com/)

Here are some pictures:

Another thing my partner has told me is that Valdivia’s weather is rainy most of the year and that’s why it’s filled with green areas, I mean there are parks and forests everywhere you look:

And rivers AND lakes!

All that I mentioned makes Paillaco a great place to vacation or to visit. Not to live though, it’s actually pretty tough to live in the south.

Best concert ever.

I remember clearly, it was November 23rd (don't remember the year, but anyways...) That was the day I went to Teatro Caupolican to see Nightwish for the very first time. I became a fan few years before that concert, so I was actually very eager to meet the band, to listen to and sing my favorite songs with them. Nightwish is (or was) my favorite band, they are from Finland. I posted very recently about that country and mentioned them as part of its musical culture. It's a symphonic metal band and I just couldn't stop listening to their music since the first time (2006). They came to Chile to promote their new album "Dark Passion Play" in 2008.

There's a sad(?) detail about that night: I went with my best friend, Paula. I think she has been the only person to become that close to me and Nightwish was her favorite band also, so it was a special night. (That's why I remember it was november 23rd, because we used to recall every 23.11 each year as the night we saw Nightwish for the very first time. We also used to chat on MSN and sent each other messages exactly at 23:11 saying "23.11!!!"). Yeah, it sounds stupid, but we loved doing that, because it was our thing. Okay, so what's the sad thing about this? I haven't spoken to her in like... a year, maybe more, and I don't even know why. ANYWAY, that night was awesome, I believe I spent the whole show singing the songs and screaming a bunch of "I love you guys!" until my voice didn't come out anymore. I actually (here's a funny detail) almost passed out when the show started because I was very near the stage, and the minute the lights went down and the music started, people who were at the back started pushing everyone to get to the front line. So I was caught into a lot of bodies and couldn't breathe so I had to go back and catch my breath, and I did, I survived. Despite all that, it was a great night, a great show, I'd love to see them again, but they haven't been here again since that night. Here's a video of the first NW's song I ever listened to <3
